Itinerant Music Programme
Places in this programme are limited as the Ministry allocates a set number of hours to fund our school. If you get a place in our Itinerant Music Programme, you must be aware of the commitment to attend regularly. There is often a waiting list for these places, and students will lose their place in the programme if they are not committed.
Learners who have selected Year 11-13 music as an option are given priority placement in the Itinerant music programme, as well as our Year 7 and 8 Band Programme learners (who will have group lessons).
If NCEA Level 1,2,3 music students are not already learning an instrument outside of school, itinerant music lessons are to support learners towards NCEA music performance credits. If there are any remaining placements available, they will be given to learners who are part of the co-curricular music programme or Year 10 Music class.
In 2025, we offer flute, clarinet, saxophone, trumpet, trombone, piano, voice and guitar.
Year 7 and 8 Band Programme - Information will be given to Y7 and Y8 learners and parents in early February about how to apply to be part of our junior band programmes.
Itinerant Music Administration Levy (for 2025): $ 200
Hire of Instrument (for 2025): $100 (to contribute to servicing of instruments, minor repairs)
Year 7 and 8 Band Levy: $100 (which includes the hireage of the instrument) or $50 (if you do not need to hire an instrument).
If you have any queries, please get in touch with Sonya Shone (HOD Music) or Shannon Enright (Head of Learning for The Arts).
