Cybersafety

After a successful trial earlier this year, we have now redeployed Linewize.

After a successful trial during the month of February, we have now redeployed Linewize.

LineWize is one of the world's most comprehensive student safety platforms. Acting as an extra, more customisable Firewall, it helps us to protect every one of our learners on their digital journeys and focus them on learning (by blocking access to Social Media and harmful content).

LineWize allows teachers to see that learners are on task, and helps them tackle distractions via screen monitoring. This helps us to reinforce responsible use by learners and focus on the use of technology for learning.

Deans have access to the School Report, a tool that allows them to have an overall view of our network usage and identify concerning patterns.

Linewize as well as helping us to protect our learners from accessing harmful and adult content,  supports our prevention of the use of VPNs (Virtual Private Networks). VPNs are used by some students to bypass our security settings. Preventing their proliferation is an essential part of our duty of care.

We want to assure you that we only monitor our learners' school Google accounts during school hours AND whilst they are onsite AND connected to our network.

Finally, in a time of AI proliferation, Linewize will also help us to, when necessary, create exam-like conditions to ensure that the work presented by students adheres to our and NZQA authenticity policies.

If you want to learn more about this platform, you can find information here.
