Drama is a fantastic subject which involves performance and building learner confidence as well as having loads of fun!

We teach Drama from Y7 up to Y13.

In the junior years, Drama is about learning to work together as a team, building confidence, communicating with others and having lots of fun. The topics we explore include improvisation, working with scripts, performing to an audience, physical theatre and being part of a class production.

In the senior years, these topics and skills are explored in a deeper way and allow learners to get NCEA Credits (Level 1-3) while learning about important theatre forms, well known theatre practitioners, different drama styles and genres and perfecting their performance skills.

Learners are able to get literacy credits from Drama including UE Literacy. Learners write their own one-act plays, perform with their peers, learn some of the intricacies of lighting and sound in our Auditorium and have a go and devising their own piece of theatre after investigating different theatre practitioners.
