French is taught from year 8 to 13 at Whangaparāoa College. The aim is to teach the learners to be communicative in every day situations. The four skills focussed on at each year level are listening, reading, writing and speaking.
By years 10 to 11 the aim is to have learners capable of holding basic conversations in French.
Another important focus in language learning is the cultural experience. learners are given the opportunity to experience French cuisine, French films, and of course the language. |
