This year, a group of our Year13 learners - Leroux Van Zyl, Balin Mitchell, Joaquin Alfaro and Nick Goodall from the Technology and Physics programmes, are engaging in designing and building an electric vehicle using an electric motor componentry kit supplied to them.
Team members develop skills in:
Mechanical & Electrical Engineering
Electronics & Programming
Sensor and Display Programming
Video-making and Marketing and Teamwork.
Two weeks ago, they competed in the initial event at Auckland University School of Engineering, to convert an existing bicycle to electric, and drive this around a circuit. A convincing first place went to our team. Well done to this group, and also thank you very much for the parent support.
We look forward to an exciting and worthwhile year with this group of learners.
