On Tuesday 29 May, a number of Year 13 Dance learners were thrilled to represent Whangaparaoa College at this year’s YouDance Youth Dance Festival at the Raye Freedman Arts Centre in Epsom, Auckland. YouDance is a professional event showcasing high quality work by youth in senior secondary dance groups, in a collegial, non-competitive environment. This was the first time a group from this college have ever participated at the event, making the prospect of performing all the more exciting. The learners worked spectacularly hard in the weeks leading up to the event, and attended a number of lunchtime and after school rehearsals, as well as an all-day Sunday rehearsal. The performance itself went extremely wel,l and received a huge round of applause from the audience. The learners all agreed it was the best they had ever performed and left the theatre after a long day feeling very proud of themselves!

If you missed out on this show, the piece, titled Sila, will be performed at the Whangaparaoa College Dance Showcase on Wednesday 13 June at 7.00 pm in the Auditorium.
