NIWA North Harbour Science and Technology Fair 2018

After two terms of planning, researching, experimenting and creating display boards, Whangaparaoa College submitted ten Year 8 entries into the NIWA North Harbour Science and Technology Fair 2018. 

Of the ten entries we obtained six awards:

Mila Tapp - Black Creature - Bronze Award Material World (Chemistry)
Laura Dymond - Kiwi Shield - Silver Award Technology
Rose Shaw - Exercise and Memory - Silver Award Living World (Biology)
Lauren Jackson - Girls’ vs Boys’ Memory - Gold Award Living World (Biology)
India Hughes - The Race between Sugars - NIWA Chief Judges Special Prize
William Mueggenburg - Baseball pitching machine - First in category prize Physical World (Physics)

Current Year 7’s can look forward to the Year 8 WGP College Science Fair next year beginning in late Term 1, with finalists presenting work on display boards ready for options night in Term 3.
