Basketball

Description
Basketball teams at Whangaparaoa College are run for both boys and girls. The age groups of teams run from Year 7 through to Year 13 with approximately 8 learners in each squad. The season runs from Term 2 through to Term 3.

Depending on age and competition levels the teams play at either the Stanmore Bay Leisure Centre or the North Shore Events Centre. The number of teams vary depending on participation levels. 
(Stanmore Bay Leisure Centre run competitions through all four terms,  however the school only enter teams through the Winter season of Term 2 and 3. Any teams who would like to enter in the Summer Sport months Term 1 and 4 can register directly through the Leisure Centre).

Commitment
Year 7 - 10 training is on a Wednesday after school 3.30pm to 4.30pm in the school gym.
U15 train on a Tuesday after school 3.30pm to 4.30pm.
U19 train on a Monday 3.30pm to 5.00pm
There are also open scrimmages run in the school gym at lunch on Thursdays, Terms 1 and 2 for Years 7-10.

Games are played
U19 Boys  will play at North Shore Events Centre on a Friday night through Terms 2 and 3.
U15 in will play at the North Shore Events Centre on a Wednesday night through Terms 2 and 3.
Year 7 – 10 will play at the Stanmore Bay Leisure Centre on a Monday night in Term 2.

Cost
Fees will be confirmed at time of registration.
Costs do not include school van transport.  If a van is required by a team the coach/manager should contact the Sports Office.  Use of school van will incur extra costs.
Fees must be paid before you play "NO PAY NO PLAY"

Uniform
U17 - Singlets supplied
Leisure Centre players to wear PE uniform or choose their own
