I have been living on the Peninsula for over 20 years, and a member of the Board of Trustees for 6 years. My two youngest children attend Whangaparaoa College. My third child graduated in 2018, and is now at University of Auckland. I believe the school should provide a broad-based education, where learners have opportunities to excel academically, artistically, athletically and socially. This approach offers the greatest potential for our young people to explore and develop their full potential as individuals and as members of the community.

As a member of the Board of Trustees, I take accountability for student achievement. Our learners’ needs, both individually and collectively, shape the way I think, and the broader Board resolutions I support. I work, alongside other Board members, to ensure all learners have a safe and high quality environment, one that caters for individuals with different needs and aptitudes, where each student has the support required to learn and achieve to his or her personal best. I believe the Board must consistently challenge the status quo, because the education system and the learning environment is changing, and I want to make sure our school will have the people and resources it needs to thrive at the heart of this unique, coastal community for many years to come.

Professionally, I am a businessman with nearly 30 years of general management, strategic leadership and entrepreneurial experience across the United States and New Zealand, working with some of the largest public and private organisations in both countries. My recent career includes senior roles at Mediaworks, Te Papa, TVNZ and Augusto (creative advertising agency and film company). I am currently a senior manager in sales at MediaWorks. I also work as an advisor to several start-ups. Before MediaWorks, I was the CFO at Augusto (creative agency), and was recently on the Board of Directors for Freeview. My leadership experience spans various disciplines including strategy, finance, general management, greenfield ventures, sales and operations.

Whangaparaoa College incorporates the best educational practice from New Zealand and around the world. The school delivers an innovative curriculum with intensive use of modern technologies within an environmentally aware site.
