College Athletics, 3rd in 200m & 100m, 2nd in 400m, 3rd in 1500m,
4th in High Jump, 4th in Shot put, Cross Country. Competed in the North Harbour competition

NZ Lacrosse played for team that Competed in the Lacrosse World Cup in Germany
Senior Sportsman of the Year
The criteria is as follows: (Awarded to a year 11-13 learner who has a high level of
involvement in a number of school sport, and who has achieved in these sports)
Rory O’Brien: College achievements 1st XV Rugby, 1st XI Hockey, Senior Touch, Senior Cricket,
Champion of School Athletics - 1st Place 100m, 200m, 400m Long Jump. 2nd Place in Discus,
Cross Country Champion, Senior Rugby Player of the Year, Senior Hockey Player of the Year.
North Harbour achievements: U18 NH Rugby Development Team, NH Athletics 400m winner.
Represented NH in North Islands, Athletics Relay Team 4x100 and 4x400m, 2nd place at NH
Sportsmanship
The criteria is as follows: (Awarded to a learner who has shown the ability to model
the values of Whangaparaoa College in sport – playing, coaching administrative and
management, umpiring – who is a role model to other learners)
Alex Prior: 1st XI Soccer Captain
Alex has proved to be an outstanding role model on and off the pitch for the 1st 11. When the team has needed his brand of quiet forceful leadership he has stepped up and proved himself a real leader. He has not shirked any responsibility on or off the pitch. He has always worked hard to support other team members on and off the pitch.
Team of the Year Award
The criteria is as follows: (Awarded to the school team who has achieved the greatest performance
either in one off or season performance in a sanctioned secondary school competition)
