The Whangaparaoa College Writing Group
The intention of the writing group is to enable interested and keen writers to learn more about the writing process and to produce a range of written material for the public eg for the local newspaper, for the school year book, for competitions as well as help to improve their own personal writing. Every couple of weeks, there will be writing challenges posted in the notices (and on this web site) and prizes awarded to the best of each year level. Opportunities for publication will be forwarded to those in the group.

Interactive lesson for students to use when planning to write a narrative -in two parts. In Write a Story 1, students look at how to identify the audience, how to choose the right kind of topic and appropriate language for that audience and how to create believable characters. In Write a Story 2, students explore how to choose what type of story to write, how to give their story a basic structure and how to choose the way they want to tell their story.
