Vision

Whangaparaoa College will be a lead school in learning, and in achieving excellence in all fields of student endeavour.

Mission

Whangaparaoa College will challenge all students, through a range of opportunities, to maximise their potential as outstanding individuals, and as members of the school and the wider community.

Values

Whangaparaoa College believes in:
• The high importance of learning
• Valuing the individual
• Challenging ourselves
• Giving of our best
• Respecting oneself, others, and the environment
• Being a safe and well managed school
• The importance of strong and appropriate relationships
• The vital partnership of home and school

As a result of looking at our school’s Vision, Mission and Values, we as a committee decided that in 2007, Whangaparaoa College would have:
  • The Whangaparaoa College Senior Excellence Awards 2007
  • The Whangaparaoa College Junior Excellence Awards 2007
  • The Whangaparaoa College Cultural Evening
  • The Whangaparaoa College Sports Awards Evening
  • Year Level Learning Awards Assemblies
The Year Level Assemblies would enable all Lead Learners to choose 3 Learners from their Tutor Group to receive awards.
There is also provision in these Year Level Assemblies, to look at Contributions to the school through Visual Arts and Zone Day Sports teams.
The Cultural Evening is a chance for all music and drama groups to perform for their peers as well as family and friends. Awards for participation will also be given out as well as Outstanding Contribution to each group.
The Supreme Sports Awards which would traditionally be given out at a Sports Dinner will be given out at the Excellence Awards.
The Excellence Awards uphold the Vision of Whangaparaoa College where it is stated that our school will be a Lead school in Learning and achieve Excellence in that goal.
