Our family has lived on the peninsula since 2005 and are members of the Whangaparaoa Baptist Church. Our son is in year 10 at the college (2010).
Professional situation. I am passionate about continuous learning for everyone every day. After careers in the Military, Forestry, Wood processing, Government and the Building industry, I now have my own business coaching company. For the past two years, I have been in a pivotal position in developing the uptake of the National Competitive Manufacturing qualifications in New Zealand over and through nine Industry training organisations. New thinking of engaging all staff in businesses will lead to a happier workplace, more profitable business and more productive country, if simple business skills are practiced daily.
BOT situation. In 2009, I requested to serve on the Board of Trustees if I could add value. I deemed serving the College in this capacity would be a social responsibility.
Since then I have chaired the Policy and procedure sub-committee, bringing a management system that systematically plans, reviews and alters policy to best serve the learners and staff. Member of both the Finance and Property sub-committees. Coach to the Senior Leadership Team (Principal and deputies) on the Clean and Tidy School process, and annual objective planning and goal setting.
My aim is to help the school become the school of choice within Rodney; for parents to send their children to, learners to excel in, and staff to be proud and happy at. Ultimately, our future lies within the minds of our children and their children, with the love and opportunities we create for them to learn and achieve beyond their and our dreams. Creating a continuously improving learning environment is the noble thing we should all do at Whangaparaoa College.
